    Physical description

    The collection includes two boxes of the developed films of churches, art objects and various places in Bukovyna in 1968 and 1979, some negatives, 15 CDs and two booklets of documentation. The Hutsul Collection contains some 3000 negatives plus CDs and booklets; 9 sets of indexes of films included.

    Biographical history

    A renown artist and photographer, David Goberman was born in 1912 in Minsk. He studies in the Leningrad Academy of Arts. He is especially famous for his photographs of Jewish tombstones and Hucul ceramics. In 1950s he travelled across Ukraine and Moldova and photographed material culture, cemeteries, everyday life, and people.

    David Goberman photograph collection consists of several thousand photographs, taken in 1960-1970, that feature material culture and architecture of Bukovyna, Transcarpathia, and Galicia.
