Kost' Telychko collection

This collection consists of the following groups of materials:

  • baptism and Canadian citizenship certificates,
  • biographies,
  • private photographs and negatives, portraits,
  • certificates of honour,
  • appreciation letters and greeting postcards,
  • materials of anniversary celebrations: thank you letters, clipping about Telychko's 75-anniversary celebration (1982),
  • newspaper publications, presentations and addresses by Telychko: essay about the Day of Statehood (1960), an obituary of Metropolitan Illarion (1972), Telychko's speech at the Ukrainian schools' exhibit opening (1979),
  • eight broadcast scripts compiled by Telychko about Mykola Leontovych, Lesia Ukrainka, Mykola Lysenko, some historical events (Konotop battle, Carpathian Ukraine), SUS convention in 1979, Easter holiday, and Thanksgiving Day.

The collection consists of correspondence, leaflets, and reports related to the fundraising for and subscription to the Encyclopedia of Ukraine (Енциклопедія Українознавства), which the creator collected as a representative of the "Encyclopedia of Ukraine" dissemination in Alberta and a treasurer of the Patronage NTSh-EY-2 in Edmonton. The other part of the collection is comprised of the documents related to the Alberta fundraising for the Leonid Pliouchtch family in France. The collection also includes a rare collective photo from 1936 or 1937.

The collection consists of materials assembled by the creator when he served as secretary for the Ukrainian Catholic Council, the Ukrainian Catholic Brotherhood, and the Honorary Committee of a banquet in honor of Cardinal Slipyi. The collection includes correspondence, minutes, and financial reports. It also contains discrete materials of other organizations where the creator was a member, newspaper clippings, bulletins, photographs, and honorary charters.

George Kowalsky collection

The collection consists of published and unpublished chapters of George Kowalsky's memoirs about the Auschwitz and Dachau concentration camps in 1943 and 1944. The memoirs were partly published in 1946 in the "Christian Road. Ukrainian religious-social weekly," a Ukrainian language periodical disseminated among Ukrainian DP in Germany. Besides that, the collection is comprised of an English translation of one part of the memoirs, one religious poster, one photograph (portrait), a typed concert program where father Kowalsky was a choir conductor, and a typed statistics of deaths in Dachau by April 29, 1945.

Halyna Klid collection

Contains audiotapes and scripts from the radio show Radio Canada International recorded from 1992-1997 hosted by Halyna Klid. The reel-to-reel audiotapes are dated from 1993 to1996 and contain many interviews with various individuals such as Hryniuk, Mykola, Konolyk, Kopotun, Andriievska, Kuchma etc. Some of the audio tape topics also include Leonid Kuchma's visit to Canada, The Joke Project, V-E Day, Hockey, Chornobyl, Perogies, and many more.

The scripts from the radio show from date from 1992 to 1997. They contain the scripts from the interviews with Polkovsky, Starchenko, McCaffrey, Major Dmytro Shkurko etc. as well as scripts from topics such as the First Ukrainian combat jets in Canada, the Men Who Broke the Circle of Women's Traditional Activities, the Alberta Legislature Passes a Motion on Chornobyl, The Feast of Jordan, Ukrainian-Canadian Visual poetry in Canada, a Bukovynian Wedding Show, and many others.

In the fall of 2015, the Canadian Centre for Ethnomusicology at the University of Alberta, with primary funding from SSHRC and additional support from KIAS, Faculty of Arts, Department of Music, Museums and Collections Services, Art Gallery of Alberta, dc3 Art Projects, Royal Alberta Museum, St. John’s Institute, and Cape Breton University, organized a symposium "Exhibiting Sound." The symposium took place at different venues in Edmonton on October 30 - November 1. "The symposium intended to advance creative, collective, blue-sky thinking about exhibiting sound: its natures, purposes, environments, and technologies; the processes of its curation; its relation to visual culture; and its role as creative, pedagogical, and scholarly output, across all the academic fields: arts, humanities, social science, science, and applied science." Larisa Sembaliuk Cheladyn collaborated with the musician John Stech (Stechishin) and dancers Anastasia Maywood and Tatiana Cheladyn to explore and interpret three folksongs from the "Kymasz files". The performance took place on Saturday, Oct. 31 at the Art Gallery of Alberta as part of the symposium. The performance was followed by the Q&A and the four creators' reflections on the creation process.

Maryna Chernyavska, the archivist at the Kule Folklore Centre, filmed the performance.

The collection consists of the video recording of the performance and the Q&A and the symposium poster.

The collection consists of an interview conducted with Chester Myroslav Kuc by Andriy Nahachewsky and Larisa Sembaliuk Cheladyn on August 20, 2003. The interview focused primarily on Chester Kuc's life story, his youth and his parents' encouragement for him to be active. It also deals with his teaching dance and the founding of Shumka and Cheremosh, and dance in general. Some information about his house and his various other arts and crafts interests: embroidery, pysanky, etc. is included as well.
