"Як воно в Харкові" (день 108-й п.з.т.) Друзі, які раніше поїхали, поступово повертаються до Харкова – забрати зимові речі та поїхати знову. Ілюзій уже ні в кого нема. Люди в місті – наче лісні птахи та звірі напередодні зими: хтось летить в теплі краї, хтось упадає в анабіоз, хтось робить запаси і готується пересидіти холоди в норі, а хтось буде зустрічати зиму такою, як вона може бути на відкритій місцині.
Поки допомагав другові з перевезенням речей, зустрів у ліфті його будинку жіночку. "Ну вы понимаете, что происходит?" – несподівано говорить вона мені – "понимаете, за что это всё?". "Это оттого" – продовжує вона, не чекаючи моєї відповіді – "что люди перестали верить в Бога. И ведут себя... Ох! Ну где ж это видано, чтобы мужчина женился на мужчине? Вот есть ты, а есть я, и сразу понятно, какая между нами разница, а отэто всё что, а отэто всё куда???" "Так" – погоджуюся – "різниця між нами таки величенька".
Тим часом мама натрапила на світлини з Саржиного яру, куди нещодавно прилетіло. Довго розглядала фотографію жінки, яка лежить в калюжі крові. "Чому кров така яскраво-червона?" – питала вона мене – "хіба так буває?" "Звісно буває" – відповідав я – "якщо артеріальна кровотеча; артеріальна кров саме така, яскрава: оксігемоглобін…"

“How things are in Kharkiv” Day 108 a.l.t. - after the liberation of the territory)
Friends who left the city earlier are gradually coming back to Kharkiv—to get their winter things and go away again. No one is under any illusion any more. People in the city are like forest birds and animals in the approach of winter: some fly to warmer places, some go into hibernation, some stock up and prepare to sit out the cold in their dens, and some will be facing winter just as it is in an open place.
While I was helping a friend move his things, I met a woman in the elevator in his building.
“Do you understand what’s happening?” she suddenly asked me in russian. “Do you understand that this is the end?”
Without waiting for my answer, she goes on: “It’s because people stopped believing in God. And they the things they do...Oh! Tell me, where have you seen that a man can marry a man? There’s you and there’s me and it’s immediately obvious what the difference between us. But that, what’s that? Where’s that going?”
“Yes,” I said, agreeing, “the difference between us is pretty huge.”
Meanwhile, my mom found some photos from Sarzhyn Yar, which was hit recently. For a long time, she gazed at a photograph of a woman lying in a pool of blood.
“Why is blood so bright red?” she asked me. “Is that possible?”
“Of course it’s possible,” I answer, “if it’s arterial blood. Arterial blood is bright red, full of oxygenated hemoglobin.”

Поки допомагав другові перевозити речі, зустрів у ліфті його будинку жіночку. "Ну, ви панімаєтє, што праісходіт? – несподівано запитує, – Панімаєтє, за што ета всьо?". "Ета аттаво, – веде далі, не чекаючи моєї відповіді, – што люді пєрєсталі вєріть в Бога. І вєдут сєбя... Ох! Ну, гдє ж ета відана, штоби мужчіна женілся на мужчінє? Вот єсть ти, а єсть я, і сразу панятна, какая мєжду намі разніца, а от ета всьо што, а от ета всьо куда?". "Так, – погоджуюся, – різниця між нами таки величенька".
