Textiles and artifacts

The series consists of embroidered textiles (tablecloth, neck ties) and three album covers: one wooden, and two made of straw and wood. Straw album covers were hand made in DP camp in Germany by Dmytro Kubrak (straw design, dyed, cut and made) - uncle of Elsie Kawulych who also lived in Vegreville and worked at Imperial Lumber Co.

01 – Project Documentation

This series contains information about project planning, administration, correspondence for the two trips taken by Andriy Nahachewsky to Ukrainian Communities in Brazil. This series includes the collector’s fieldnotes, drafts of databases, information about the three other researchers during the first trip, Brazilian supporters, some of the interviewees as individuals, and the contexts for travel and conducting the fieldwork.

Artifacts are assembled into a special series for logistical purposes. Items include ethnic pop art and souvenir objects, as well as occasional vernacular culture artifacts.

Girl in red dress tango

Gordon Gordey documents his dance concepts and libretto, including performance photographs, for the creation of the original dance theatre work Girl in the Red Dress TANGO. Created for the Ukrainian Shumka Dancers of Canada.

First Draft Concept/Libretto was created in 2006.

Beztaktnist

This series includes 31 issues of the Beztaktnist newsletter, which was compiled by David Marples and distributed internally throughout the Canadian Institute of Ukrainian Studies from 1980 until 1991.
The second issue states: "Beztaktnist is a humorous look at life in the Institute and Ukrainian affairs generally. Contributions are welcomed, even demanded. Hopefully it will appear on the second Monday of each month."

The series consists of records related to teaching Ukrainian language, culture and folklore, and includes course outlines, assignment and test designs, reading lists, correspondence with students, fieldwork projects, and other records starting from early course offerings in the end of 1970s, and until early 2000s. The courses covered are: Ukrainian Folk Song, Ukrainian Folk Prose, Ukrainian Calendar Customs, Rites of Passage, Folk Bilief, Material Culture, and Early Ukrainian Canadian Culture. There are also materials related to graduate students, master and PhD, whom Dr. Medwidsky supervised, and to their theses and dissertations.
