The collection consist of documents related to the Kalyna Country project collected by the Government of Alberta advisor for Kalyna Country Ecomuseum Bill Tracy. It includes materials of the Kalyna Country Ecomuseum Trust Society, Kalyna Country Destination Marketing organization, Shandro museum and Lakusta museum.

The Kalyna Country Ecomuseum Project was initiated in 1990 as a joint undertaking by the then Department of Culture and Multiculturalism and the Candian Institute of Ukrainian studies. Conceptually the Ecomuseum was to preserve and develop the heritage resources - both cultural and natural - of a 15,000 square kilometer portion of East Central Alberta which was primarily settled at the turn of the century by Ukrainian pioneers. In 1992 the residents of the area organized themselves into a non-profit association called the “Kalyna Country Ecomuseum Trust Society”. The Board of Directors of the Society were drawn from across the entire ecomuseum which has been divided into “electoral districts”. The Society had undertaken various research and promotional projects.

Kalyna Country Ecomuseum is a “heritage” and eco-tourism district, “living” outdoor museum in rural East Central Alberta.

Officially, Kalyna Country comprises Sturgeon County, Thorhild County, Smoky Lake County, the County of St. Paul No. 19, the County of Vermilion River, the County of Two Hills No. 21, the County of Minburn No. 27, Beaver County, Lamont County, and Strathcona County and many of the neighbouring urban municipalities, Indian reserves and Metis settlements.

The series comprises family photographs (and negatives) from different periods of their life.

The series contains working papers pertaining to the founding and development of the Kalyna Country project including Kalyna Country Ecomuseum Trust Society, Kalyna Country Destination Marketing organization, and other constitutive parts of the project. These documents include (but are not limited to):

• grant applications,
• meeting minutes,
• bylaws,
• development strategies,
• action plans,
• budgets,
• receipts of money transfers,
• variety of reports,
• certificate about changes of the objectives,
• lists of board directors, executive officers, and other members of the administration,
• extensive correspondence,
• materials of conference meetings,
• clippings of newspaper publications about Kalyna Country project,
• a brief history of the organization,
• biographies of prominent people, writers, politicians, and artists, born in the territories constituting the Kalyna Country Ecomuseum: Michael Gowda, Illia Kiriak, Kupchenko family, Kostash family, Joseph Yasenchuk, William Kurylek, Michael Luchkovich among others,
• set of visitor's and events guides and booklets.

There are also several folders organized by the creator containing the following documents:

The series contains academic articles and popular publications about technique, history and designs of Ukrainian Easter eggs paining and Easter bread; publications about prominent Easter eggs painters; photographs of painted eggs from variety of the Ukrainian regions; a collection of postal stamps featuring painted eggs. A copy of the "Основні елементи орнаментації українcьких писанок та їхнє походження" (Прага 1925) monograph by В. Щербаківський and other publications is a part of the collection.

The series consists of documents related to Shandro Museum activities including annual financial reports, list of executive, bylaws, renaming documents, certificate of incorporation, agreement with other organizations (Alberta Museum Association), and dissolution documents.
