Master's thesis on the Wax Ceremony, a folkloric tradition brought to Alberta mainly by Ukrainian immigrants mainly who emigrated from Western regions of Ukraine.

The file consists of supporting materials for Rena Hanchuk's MA Thesis on Ukrainian Folk Medicine including: notes to Dr. Medwidsky, other correspondence, proposal outlines, bibliography, questionnaire, interview transcripts, and audio recordings of interviews.

This file contains early materials collected by Rena Hanchuk for her Folklore classes and a final paper. The project defines the wax ceremony as practiced in Canada. Within the written work, Rena compares and contrasts the definition of a wax ceremony through the taped interviews. The 15-page essay "A study on the Wax Ceremony as folk medicine" was done for the course Ukrainian 699.

This collection includes analyses on the wax ceremony performed by Ukrainian Canadians as folk medicine as research for her Master's thesis at the University of Alberta.
