Nicholas wrote down many of the proverbs from his mother Anne who used them a lot at home. He finished working on the collection in late 1980s-early 1990s and then found his notes only in 2001. Bishop Yakymyshyn said they were valuable and needed to be kept. A Basilian seminarian Yuriy typed them up. He preferred standard literary language.
